Groove Shed — the app
Groove Shed is available on the App Store. Your recordings and practice sessions stay on your device — we do not transmit, store, or process them on our servers, and we never use your data to train models or improve AI systems. The only data that leaves your device is the limited, anonymized data handled by the third-party services described below — crash and diagnostic reporting, and, if you opt in, push notifications and anonymized ad-measurement events. None of it is linked to your identity.
Your device, your data.
Groove Shed offers a free tier and paid one-time upgrades. All payments are processed through Apple’s App Store. We do not handle, process, or store any payment information.
Crash reporting
We use Sentry (sentry.io) to collect anonymized crash reports and diagnostic data. This may include device type, operating system version, app version, and crash traces. No personal data is collected. This information is used to identify and fix bugs.
Sentry is a US-based service. Data processed by Sentry is transferred to the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses in compliance with GDPR.
Usage analytics
Telemetry Deck (telemetrydeck.com) collects anonymized, aggregated usage analytics — which features are used — with no personal data. Telemetry Deck is based in Germany and processes data within the EU.
Ad measurement (optional, opt-in)
If you choose to share anonymous usage events, we send a limited set of app events — app installs, app opens, and purchases (including price and currency) — to Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. These events are not linked to your name or email address, and we never share your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA). We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
This sharing happens only with your consent, which we ask for when you first use the app. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings → Privacy → “Share Anonymous Events” — sharing stops immediately. The legal basis for this processing is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Meta processes this data as described in Meta’s Privacy Policy.
Push notifications
Groove Shed can send you push notifications — such as product news or reminders — but only if you opt in by granting notification permission on your device. If you don’t grant permission, or you later turn notifications off in your device settings, none of this applies to you.
To deliver notifications we use OneSignal (onesignal.com). When you enable notifications, OneSignal receives a device push token (an identifier Apple issues for your device), a OneSignal-assigned identifier, and basic data about how you interact with notifications, such as whether a notification was opened. This data is not linked to your identity — we do not collect your name, email, or account, and we do not use it to track you across other apps.
The legal basis for processing is your consent, given when you grant notification permission. You can withdraw it at any time by disabling notifications for Groove Shed in your device settings.
OneSignal is a US-based service and acts as a data processor on our behalf. Data is transferred to the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses in compliance with GDPR.

Email list
If you sign up to our mailing list, we collect your email address. We use it to send product updates and news from shed.music. The legal basis for processing is your consent, given when you submitted the form.
We use Kit (kit.com) to manage our mailing list. Your email address is stored on their servers in the United States. Data is transferred under Standard Contractual Clauses in compliance with GDPR. Kit acts as a data processor on our behalf.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
Cookies and tracking
We do not currently use cookies or tracking pixels on this website.
Analytics
We may add privacy-respecting website analytics in the future. If we do, we will update this policy before enabling them.
How long we keep your data
We keep your email address for as long as you stay subscribed. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data, we will remove it promptly.
Anonymized crash and diagnostic data is retained for a limited period for debugging purposes and does not identify you.
If you enable push notifications, OneSignal retains your notification subscription data until you disable notifications for Groove Shed or we delete it.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data
- Withdraw your consent at any time
- Object to or restrict how we process your data
- Lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi)
